Lighting is the cheapest renovation that has the biggest aesthetic impact. Swap a single ceiling pendant for spots, add a floor-level glow strip in a hallway, install a dimmer to set kitchen mood — small jobs that change how a room feels.
We do everything from a one-off light fitting swap (£85, half hour) to full kitchen-diner lighting designs with multiple zones, dimmers, and smart control. Garden lighting too — IP65-rated outdoor fittings, properly weatherproofed installations, low-voltage runs where appropriate.
Smart lighting (Hue, LIFX, Lutron, Shelly) is often a much smarter choice than hard-wired smart switches — you keep flexibility without expensive rewiring. We'll advise on what makes sense.
How it works
Common questions
Can I supply my own light fittings?
Yes, absolutely. We charge for installation labour only. Just make sure they're CE/UKCA marked and suitable for the location (e.g., bathroom-zone-rated for bathrooms).
What's the difference between fire-rated and non-fire-rated downlights?
Fire-rated downlights have an intumescent seal that maintains your ceiling's fire resistance (important if there's a habitable room above). Required by building regs in most domestic situations. Non-fire-rated are slightly cheaper but only suitable for top-floor ceilings with nothing above. We always fit fire-rated unless there's a specific reason not to.
Can you do smart lighting without rewiring?
Often yes. Philips Hue, LIFX, and similar smart bulbs work in your existing fittings. For switches, products like Shelly relays sit behind your existing switch and add smart control without rewiring. Hardwired smart switches (Lutron Caseta, Shelly switches) need a neutral wire at the switch position — most modern UK homes have that, older ones may not.
Do you do garden / outdoor lighting?
Yes. We do IP65+ rated mains-voltage and low-voltage installations. Garden lighting is one of the best-value upgrades you can make — transforms how a garden looks at night.
Will you make good after running cables?
We chase cables tidily and fill afterwards. Larger installations may leave the room ready for a decorator to repaint. Small swaps and dimmer installs require no making-good.
