How it works

01
Survey
We come round, look at the existing installation, identify all circuits and check cable types. We talk through your needs (extra sockets? smart home? EV charger?) and aspirations.
02
Detailed quote
Fixed-price written quote within 48 hours. We list everything: rooms covered, sockets per room, switches, lights, smoke alarms, consumer unit. No surprises later.
03
Schedule and prep
Rewires need planning. We agree dates, agree which rooms get done in which order, and discuss whether you'll stay in the house (most can) or decant for the heaviest days.
04
First fix
Lift floorboards, chase walls, run new cable everywhere. This is the messiest stage. Typically 60-70% of the project time. Daily clean-down at end of day.
05
Second fix
All accessories fitted: sockets, switches, lights, smoke alarms, consumer unit installed and connected. Power on circuit-by-circuit.
06
Test and certify
Every circuit tested individually (full NICEIC schedule). EIC issued, building control notified, all paperwork given to you.
07
Make-good
We patch chases, fill nail holes, sand floorboards back. Property is ready for redecoration. We don't paint or wallpaper — that's a decorator's job.
FAQs

Common questions

FAQ-01

Can I stay in the house during a rewire?

Usually yes, but expect significant disruption. We work room by room, so you'll typically have power and lighting somewhere — just not the room currently being worked on. Some clients prefer to decant for the heaviest days. We'll be honest about timing during the survey.

FAQ-02

How much does a full rewire cost?

Wide range depending on size, complexity, and finish. A typical 3-bed semi: £4,500-£7,500. 4-5 bed detached: £7,000-£12,000. Flats: usually £3,000-£5,000. Larger properties or those needing significant making-good: more. Free survey gets you a fixed price.

FAQ-03

Do I need a full rewire, or could I get away with partial?

Honest answer: many homes don't need a full rewire. If your installation is mostly modern with one or two outdated circuits (e.g., the kitchen still has the original 1980s wiring while the rest was done in 2010), a partial rewire targeting just the bad circuits is far cheaper and almost as effective. We'll tell you which scenario applies during the survey.

FAQ-04

What about my decorations — will I need to redecorate?

Yes, almost always. We do reasonable making-good (filling chases, fitting back floorboards, patching cable entry points), but expect to repaint or wallpaper the affected walls afterwards. If you have heritage features, we work around them as much as possible — discuss this at survey.

FAQ-05

Do you do extensions and refurbs?

Yes. If you're doing a building project anyway, rewiring while walls are open is dramatically cheaper than later. We coordinate with your builder on programming.

FAQ-06

What about smart home or future-proofing?

We can build that in. Cat6 cabling for fast home networking, dedicated EV charger circuit, solar PV provision, future smart-home wiring — discuss at survey and we'll spec it into the quote.
